Only 12 days of 2021 have elapsed and so many things have changed for me already. It’s been a while since I posted anything other than books, so I thought I’d start the year right and write a bit about myself.

I’ve had this blog for over five years now, since I was a Literature undergraduate eager to write my thoughts about books and my travel experiences (back when things were not so complicated). As many of you know, what I did when I got my degree was open a coffee shop in my home town, a cosy place where people could read and have a good espresso. Unfortunately and mostly due to the pandemic, I had to close down my coffee shop permanently after two very exhausting years.

It’s not all bad though, I learned many valuable lessons because of that small business. But I am happy to be looking at new horizons this year and work on my artistic projects. I see open paths everywhere and it is both overwhelming and amazing. One thing I will be able to do now is write more on here and I will be creating my own YouTube channel very soon. I’m also considering studying a new language and will start looking for opportunities to study a masters degree abroad.

I have yet to find a job but I’m not stressing about it too much at the moment (I am very grateful for that). In fact, I just came back from a short holiday at the beach, just to make sure this year has a lot of traveling in it.

So, 2021 is proving to be an intense year already, but in a good way. I am excited to be sharing with you my new reads and also to read about yours. Right now I’m about to finish my first book of 2020, The Memory Police by Yoko Ogawa, which has me thinking a lot. I hope this is the beginning of a good reading year (I set my Goodreads challenge at 40 books, so it better be).

How has 2021 treated you so far? And what are you reading?

I’m sorry to be a bit late in wishing you a Happy New Year, but I do hope it all gets better for you and I sincerely thank you for sticking around 🙂

The Memory Police. Scary yet beautiful.
